Yesterday, I showed you the power of expectation and specifically, I showed you that your expectation as a person will affect your outcome in life. Today, I want you to see some other expectations that can affect your journey in life.

i. The expectation of men.

This has to do with what men are expecting from you. Look at the experience of Peter the Apostle in Acts 12:11; it shows us that what men are expecting from your life may not be pleasant, but God in His faithfulness will always deliver His children from every evil expectation.

The expectation of Job over his children and properties were not positive and so he received a negative outcome in life. You know the Bible says that he always sacrifice on behalf of his children regularly; the reason was that he had a secret fear and negative expectation towards them. When he received the report that those children were dead, look at what he said: Job 3:25, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” Whatever happens in life, expect a positive outcome from the Lord.

ii. The expectation of the devil.

The devil has no good expectation over men, and all of the time, it is like the expectation of Jews over the life of Paul the apostle as we see in the passage above.

iv. The expectation of God.

I told you earlier that God has an expectation over your life. It is a good expectation and it is positive in nature. The expectation of God for your life is based on His eternal program and plan for your life. It is not based on your past, your circumstances, your ancestry, what you have done to yourself and what the devil had done to you in the past. I do tell people regularly that “God can do more in your future that what the devil had done in your past”. God is a redemptive God and all His actions towards His creations, especially men are redemptive in nature.  If you will cooperate with God and follow Him, He can still work out His original intention and expectation over your life. God bless you.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will help me to align my expectation to your expectations over my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
